Kimono Creation

There are two basic ways to create a kimono.  The first way is to dye the fabric after it has been woven (atozome).  This includes such methods as yuzen, shibori, and katazome dyeing.  The second method is to dye the threads before weaving (sakizome).  For these kimono, the pattern will appear as the threads are woven on the loom.  This method produces tsumugi, nishijin, and oshima, among others.
